A Dream Team

Guests arrived
from everywhere
to attend the wedding
of a sports-mad pair.

The married couple's
family and friends
outside the church
cheered and roared.

The bride smiled
like a Cheshire cat
realising that
she'd finally scored.

Her husband was
a strapping lad
and, just like her,
he was sports-mad.
 
She was a forward
for the ladies team
and he a goalkeeper
for the male squad.
 
As he stood under
a shower of confetti
he hoped to be as good
as Peter Bonetti.
 
To save penalties
and keep a clean sheet
so that the fans
would rejoice and applaud.
 
Both were energetic,
never ran out of steam;
they were undeniably
a dream team.

Very amusing Luigi! I know couples like this they seem quite happy ignoring reality around them. These two were made for each other. Wonder about kids? That should be good sports. But that wedding itself sounds illegal I mean with the covid.
