One-leaf therapy

Even in winter
you can look at a leaf
soothing green
and patterns seen
of veins and texture,
the varieties and subtleties of nature
can bring relief
in the stress and tensions
pressures and grief
relaxing mind –
don’t be ‘plant blind’!

['Plant blindness' is a term for a tendency not to notice plants particularly, or remember
maybe partly because they do not have movement to ‘catch the eye’ or faces. It is of interest
partly because of the soothing, mentally relaxing effects that ‘noticing’ plants can have, maybe especially looking at their patterns, depth of interweaving branches and leaves and touching, feeling the texture etc]

!smiley I suppose even the greenery brought indoors for food is worth examining - but maybe better when we're outdoors?! Rhiannon

Thank you. It is easy to miss so much pleasant nature in the winter, but there is still much to notice, even in the bare twigs! My granddaughter walked in with one bit of cypress, and a dried up sweet chestnut fruit yesterday! Rhiannon

They tell me that (allmost all) modern medicines were in fact originally of plant origin. Maybe we should re-think and look again at homeopaths and herbalists and herb doctors. I don't know but big pharaceutical companies are highly lucrative business.

Thank you. There certainly have been an abundance of useful medicattions found from plants I think, Tom.

Though here I was more pointing to the soothing quality of being amongst and studying the plants around us. Rhiannon
