“Do I not like orange”
is a catchphrase
that in my memory
forever stays.
To some this saying
may not mean much;
to others it will sound
like Double Dutch.
It's something that
Graham Taylor said
when the Netherlands
against England played.
The bon mot was uttered
after Dennis Berghamp
on a Dutch victory
had put his stamp.
Does Gareth Southgate
now likes this hue
and thinks his predecessor
didn't have a clue?
What's there to dislike
about this pigment?
It was only an illusion,
an absurd figment.
The fallacy of this myth
has been disproved
by an English team
that's much improved.
Next, they must defeat
the Spanish armada
to gain immortality
or achieve nada.

Dear old GT would approve,
Dear old GT would approve, Luigi.
I didn't see the caption the BBC used to close its coverage of last night's game at the time but I have seen since that it was a cheeky nod to England's former manager finally getting his revenge from beyond the grave.
Life is about moments. It wasn't to be all those years ago but it was last night. RIP GT.
