The earth moves on …

The summer is ending,
the berries swell,
and bulbs, swede, potatoes
plump up as well,
plants languish and wither,
prepared for cool weather,
trees’ foliage fades,
with colourful tints
soon to be lost
when comes the first frost:
and boilers get busy
to make our homes cosy.

You capture the mood of the changing season so reflectively, Rhiannon. Some lovely imagery in here.
Personally, I don't mind the end of summer at all. I adore autumn and winter brings its own delights :)

This poem reminds me of those
This poem reminds me of those days from the past when I used to work on the garden and get ready to collect the harvest of all the produce I'd grown from seed in the spring. I remember one year I grew corn, runner beans, tomatoes, lettuce, carrots and chillies, it was a bumper harvest. Round about now I'd have been making tomato chutney...so yummy. They were happy days.
Thank you for bringing back those memories with your lovely poem Rhiannon.
Jenny.

Doing great
Doing great. Jacques is with Cosmofunnel now he says they are very friendly, and the site suits his style better. He is posting a lot of good work, still enjoying the writing. He was under "Rhymes and Reasons" on Abctales. With Cosmofunnel you must be a member to read people's work but it's also free.
Our one uncle and aunt came today, always good to see family 'specially the kitchen food they bring!
Yes, it is spring again! A young man's fancy turns to thoughts of love ...
See you Rhiannon! Tom
