Judith's Wedding Gown

Going through the long guest list for the seventh time,
Everything is done yet something lingers,
Trying to appear cool,
Ten minutes spent speaking to the wedding shop,
Is my dress ready to be collected?
Not yet, moans Beryl, we need to adjust your back hooks,
Got to get it absolutely perfect then we will deliver.
Mum on the telephone, “Have you got your wedding dress yet”?
A momentary pause then, “Hi Mum, Beryl is still working on it”.
Row begins, “Judith, you only have 4 days until the wedding day, ask her to hurry up”.
Row hushed, “Mum, if I rush her, she won’t do a good job and I want a perfect wedding gown”.
Inside Mum is closing down like a rose in late summer,
Everything else is going ok, I smile sweetly.
Don’t leave it too late to collect your wedding dress, Judith, we still have a pile of things to sort out; your aunty Sarah, the bride maids dresses, the reception hall, the wedding invites and Dad wants a grey wedding suit.
