Gunther: Where is the beautiful black woman?
Hans: She is sleeping in the hammock?
Gunther: Sleeping? At 7 o'clock in the evening.
I would like to see her dancing to the
Djembe.
Hans: Sahara is a beautiful dancer. If you
see her dance, you will be totally
amazed. Can you play Djembe, Gunther?
Gunther: No, I can play the Clarinet but
Ade can play that drum. When he beats
the Djembe his hands seem to disappear
with the speed of his beating.
Hans: Yes, Ade’s fingers move like lightning.
In Austria, we call him the African
with the magical fingers.
Gunther: The magical fingers? Call the black
woman?
Hans: Her name is Sahara.
Gunther: Sahara! Sahara!
Sahara: Yes, did somebody call me?
Gunther: Sahara, you look very beautiful tonight.
Sahara: Thank you, I do not think that we have
met before.
Gunther: Hans told me your name today. My name
is Gunther. I was born in Berlin.
Please dance for me.
Sahara: Only if Ade is playing the Djembe then I
will dance.
Gunther: Hans, call Ade and request his company
immediately. I would love to see
Sahara dance to the Djembe.
Hans: Ade is on holiday in Ghana at the moment
but when he comes back, I will pay his
taxi fare so that he will drum for
you.
Gunther: That would be great. I look forward
to it but in the meantime,Sahara,we
have some Ghanaian music in my car. If I
put it on - will you dance for us?
Sahara: OK but I will not give you a full show.
Gunther: An exhibition of your dance is better
than nothing. I will get the tape.
Gunther puts on the Ghanaian music and Sahara treats Gunther and Hans to a wild African dance on a beautiful flood-lit stage which is decorated with swaying palm trees, sand and parrots. Hans claps enthusiastically and Gunther bobs from side to side, almost getting up to join Sahara on stage.
