GRANDADS GIRL
From a little girl I knew what I wanted to be
Every Sunday sat on Grandad’s knee
We'd talk and watch films
he'd tell. Me stories of the past
showed me his medals and his war wounds I'd sit amazed for hours
To me he was my hero I wanted to follow his steps
from then I wanted uniform and to learn about respect.
He taught me different ranks and talked about the forces
pushed me towards my chosen one helped me develop he was so supportive.
Marching on remembrance day Grandad marching too
standing to attention watching Grandad salute.
For he was my hero I wanted to make him proud.
When Grandad passed it broke my heart but I knew what I had to do.
I had to get a job in the forces I had to be just like him
Health issues had taken its course armed forces wasn't allowed
But Grandad I've joined the police force wearing uniform I know I make u proud

I knew someone who had always
I knew someone who had always wanted to join the forces, but health issues prevented, and he went into the police force. Much hard work ahead there too I think, I hope you find it satisfying though. Rhiannon
