Butterfly Bridge

Tonight we'll cross butterfly bridge
higher than the moon itself in spring,
for it's where crocuses spreading out
stand silently waiting for early morn,
crystal energy of water so deep below,
reflecting our silhouettes like dark claws
that reach out in haze of moonlight...a river
guarded by weeping willows on embankment,
earthy fragrances captured below beds of moss,
tongues of mushrooms hold fast to stumps of
rotting bark, while all around inaudible sounds
of nature returning, sending messages bequeathed.
When daffodils have fallen and storms have died,
those delicate traces of summer, leave us to muse
on dreams of buzz and fluttering wings...that secret
place where only the imaginative people dare to go.

Seems a mixture of winter
Seems a mixture of winter dreaming with all sorts of memories of the senses' delights in spring and summer scenes. I like your noticing of earthy fragrances captured below beds of moss, tongues of mushrooms hold fast to stumps of rotting bark and the listening to the little sounds around you.

It's a Magical place this butterfly bridge and I'd love to walk over it too. Such perfect phrasing, every element lights up with your words. I loved where this took me, into a world of pure imagination. Thanks for sharing this beautiful work. It was well worthy of those golden cherries.
