Cycle Of Life

Muddy – marshy – murky forest floor,
squidgy – earthy like browned off
mashed potato squelching in November's rain,
as storms drench dawn's secrets...now no longer hidden,
old leaves don't suffer frost bite they've had their shadowy days,
now they crunch beneath feet...their scaly veins flaking,
Autumn's vibrancy of colour just a memory,
as old habits die hard in cycle of life,
fragile sapling unfurls delicate limbs beside giant oak,
who's growth transmits invisible messages to one so young,
penetrating dense soil where varying neighbours dwell
In this topsy, turvy world of roots and branches,
no gibberish words concerning panic are uttered...
just a playground of many uncertainties,
but for the innocent young their ignorance a blessing
when not knowing if tomorrow's oak will survive.

Such a mixture of crispy
Such a mixture of crispy leaves, and squelchy mud this time of the year! I liked the idea of 'topsy, turvy world of roots and branches', visualising the root systems down under mirroring the branch pattern above! Rhiannon
fragile sampling - is that 'sapling', young tree, with the 'm' crept in?

Like the image of mashed potato. It is very like that, isn't it. Love the thought of oaks transmitting invisible messages. :)

I love "shadowy days"
I love "shadowy days"
"playground of many uncertainties" is exciting and scary and big all at once.
You have created a strong sense of another sort of life to ours, just as complete and rich
