Little One

Like an Olympic competitor,
you were so fit and strong,
the moment that you started,
no helping hand the race was on,
there was shoving and pushing,
this was not an easy swim,
it took a lot of climbing,
before you hit the rim,
but then you finally made it,
you hit the winning post,
leaving all the rest behind,
they couldn't come close,
you never knew of your success,
you struggled through the stress,
now at the end of your journey,
relax...let nature do the rest.
Time passes in a tick...nine
months gone really quick,
then suddenly your here
this life that I hold dear,
I watch you with your downy hair,
lay you in your cot with care...
all snuggled up...eyes shut tight,
the sandman comes without a fight,
I often wonder what you dream,
under light of soft moon beam,
what do you see in your sleep?
Wish that I could take a peek,
Is it in the womb so warm...
the place before you were born?
Do you dream in colours bright,
or do you dream in black and white?
You are a mystery to me,
your futures yours you hold the key,
but when all is said and done,
your my miracle of magic little one.
