Butterfly Lullaby

Little caterpillar, fast asleep in your cocoon,
can you hear the pitter-patter of an April shower?
You will be a butterfly and burst forth very soon;
utterly beautiful as you flutter ‘bout the flowers.

You will have a pretty patterned pair of silken wings;
multi-coloured like the lovely lullaby of spring
and, when people see you flutter by them, they will say,
"What an abso- bloomin' -lutely gorgeous Springtime day!".

This is lovely. I've had loads of butterfly's and bees visiting today, maybe we finally have a summer. And this is in perfect keeping with it.

Thank you, Sooz. The faux cockney bit might bother people but I was thinking of Mary Poppins/My Fair Lady as I was writing it and 'abso-bloomin'-lutely' seems like a word that bursts out from inside another word like a cocoon. Glad you like it and glad to hear about the bees and butterflies in your garden.
