I own a plot.
It is decorated with a bungalow
of reasonable proportions
surrounding it, an array of flora
most hybrid,
all colourful
and twenty first century,
styled in Mediterranean fashion.
An oasis
in a desert of concrete,
but
then
to my neighbour
my plot
is part of that desert too…

Many a true word is spoken

Many a true word is spoken in a poem, Val and indeed this is certainly no exception. Made me really think.
Nice one.

When I hear the term urban

When I hear the term urban jungle I imagine a city full of vegetation. How ironic that, with few exception, all we get is an abundance of concrete monstrosities. Your poem describes this situation perfectly.

This is lovely Val - I, too,
This is lovely Val - I, too, try to make an oasis of green in my city garden. My neighbours mostly don't bother - but then an overgrown jungle is preferable to concrete paving, no?
