As autumn dies and lies
In beautiful repose
Withered, crunchy on the ground
Guardian crows as heralds
Calling forth December skies
Tiny up against the great
Expanse I defy the regal wind
On wings of paper
Hysterical like gnats in sunshine
I am fatal, fateful, faithful Icarus
Falling into the mess below,
Wreckage draped in snow.
