Through rotting vegetation
the Sweet Violet shoots,
thrusting up its pretty head
above the living roots,
through last years leafy moulds
and Jack-by-the hedge,
its velvet petals unfold,
heralding Summer’s pledge …

Ok, I now think that 'Spring' was a bad choice...it was so lovely up til yesterday, and now it's pee-ing down again! So optimistic, very Romantic poet of you! Lovely poem! J x

It's been beautiful in Grantham today, I was in my conservatory earlier and the sun through the glass was really warm. Glad you like the little ditty. Val x
