A sunlit autumn walk

Kington*, nestled among the hills,
where footpaths meet at the edge of Wales.
We take one leading to Castle Twt,
a neat ‘look-out’ mound, – but keep to the foot-
-path, in passing through the wood,
(if not, there’s a tin for the asked-for pound)
– bamboo and other exotics are found,
(it’s managed by gardeners for th’estate nearby),
autumn colours, a leafy sky,
everything dappled with bright sunlight,
a shimmering pool in a sheltered glade,
multiple species enjoying the shade;
‘but what is that?’ – a thin tree towers,
full of four-petalled, white, wild-rose-like flowers,
we’re puzzled, ‘wrong leaf, wrong season’, we haven’t a clue:
a stroller happened by, – and its name he knew;**
we soon emerge, to an over-valley view,
and descend to the Arrow, where branches frame
pools of light and shadows on dark, flowing shallows.

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
How much fun it must be for you to go on this rambles and see new flowers, and meet with others who share your passion.

This is such a well described walk Rhiannon, it's a shame we never had photos at the time to go with this poem.
Very much enjoyed and will have to look up euchryphia nymanesis on google.
Jenny.
