Mysterious Minstrel
with harlequin hat,
Sweet sounds of the forest I hear...
as I move with continuous motion,
green trousers he wore...
below patchwork jacket,
with penny whistle he magically performed
reminiscence of times past,
I kneel before him...
put coins in his hat,
"thankyou," he then said from beneath his beard,
"the money's for my old black cat..."
given choice I would remain...
eyes fixed observation clear,
but sadly I must take my leave
for there are timely matters to attend.

Nice submission Jenny. I'm a
Nice submission Jenny.
I'm a hopeless watcher/admirer of buskers and living near York there is no shortage of them around the Minster on the odd occasion that I visit.
One observation if I may Jenny?
Perhaps save explicit explanations of the piece for personal messages to familiar co-writers or those who specifically request them, somehow reading your comment to Maisie et al. took a little of the burnish away.
But a super effort and thoroughly enjoyable
Lovely submission,
Scratch.

A lovely mystical poem but
A lovely mystical poem but also for me it has a carnival flavour with the mention of a patchwork jacket and a harlequin hat. Once again, for me,it conjures up an image of a coat with tails and a high harlequin hat and I imagine him walking and playing his penny whistle with laughing children following behind...a bit reminiscent of the Pied Piper!
Much enjoyed.
