I can offer no greater truth
than one you find
in your bellybutton.
Look to your lineage,
environment, choices.
Examine your shoes,
are they fit for purpose.
Paths are not set,
let your feet wander;
make your own.

A real pleasure to read. I really loved the finishing line. It grants the reader with a sense of liberty and affirming individualism. Brilliant!
'in you belly button' is a stroke of genius; a humorous line that sustains the profundity of the piece, but veers away from any over-intensity.
Cheers.
Steve.

It was lovely to meet you in person on Friday, Lena, and I really love this - it speaks volumes in its sparsity, and will stay with me for a long time. Well done on the cherries!

Hello Lena, This is a great
Hello Lena,
This is a great poem and one that says so much with so few words. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to poetry but is the mother saying in effect be a leader not a follower. Make your own path.
Much enjoyed anyway,
Moya
