The Artist and the Fishermen

Cascading colours drift on canvas,
a firmament of yellow, orange and gold,
for the sky with its passion glows
as it welcomes a new dawn,
the artist's Eden...similar to a flower opening,
letting light shine in like the blooms that multiply
in the eternal beauty of the summer lands,
her illumine pours from dreams,
as the shrill cry of gulls echoes,
they linger gliding on the current of a breeze
circling like carousel horses in the heavens,
she...attentive to the scene listens,
voices whisper in the shifting tides
as images of white horses surge,
then all at once disperse to the
reverberation of crashing waves.
Somewhere far away pure and unaffected,
as deep as the ocean...nets hang below the swell
like silky...gossamer webs,
enticing the unexpected passer-by
as fishing trawlers wait their catch,
men sing those hearty shanties of old,
while wives gossip of gutting fish,
their floral nets hang in the windows
of far off cottages,
visions dance across their window panes,
haunting – stirring the rushing air,
as they await their husbands return.
