Sudden Snow

silently, softly, smothering, enveloping,
quieting, soothing, hushing,
confining all of the noise and the rushing.
Flakes cease from falling,
children erupting –
chance of rare playground,
sharp, clear atmosphere echoing sound.
Scraping and clearing,
plans rearranging –
who may be needing attention,
while numerous services now in suspension?

HI Rhiannon
HI Rhiannon
This is a lovely soft description of snow - very enticing.
When I first came to this country, I couldn't think what a big deal people made out of it - as it was very much a part of our lives in North Dakota from November to April. Nobody particularly admired it, and nobody was particularly put out by it - you just got on and dealt with it.
