I visit her on Tuesdays
Which I’ve renamed Ma Confused Days
She greets me with a smile
But she never knows my name
I ask her how her day went
And she looks a little absent
She asks me what I’m doing there
And if the postman came
I show her daddy’s photo
Though he may as well be Toto
But I have to fight a tear back
When she says we look the same
She’s just a shadow of the mother
Who loved me like no other
I feel so lost without her
It’s such a bloody shame
And yet when I sit beside her
I still see the light inside her
It’s the picture that’s important
I don’t care about the frame
I’ll never know for certain
What’s behind this foggy curtain
But I hope that she is happy
And has innocence reclaimed

A reluctance innocence I think but a very good description of dementia. Enjoyed it.. and just hope I don't end up the same!
