On sewing buttons

Don’t rush it
Take your time
Putting it down
And picking it up
As many times as you like
Follow the same thread
Over and over
If that’s what you want
It’s up to you
Don’t look for meaning
If it’s there
It’ll come and find you
Poetry reading’s the same

'If it's there
'If it's there

I Love that, Kevin. It's the way I feel about writing. Cheers.

I love this poem too.
I love this poem too. ‘Don’t rush it’ - I must keep those words in my head when reading and writing poetry. I have no problem with sewing buttons!

I love this, it's so gentle
I love this, it's so gentle :0) I'm not technical, so always feel very pleased that I've managed to fix something, when I sew on a button. Equally, I worry that I don't understand writing often. Your idea of joining the two together is lovely. I guess when you sew, like when you read, some thoughts as some material, are joined into something new, bigger?

I failed to say something significant and ended up submitting an empty permalink - which is pretty much the opposite of what you've done with this gem.

hm, not if you can't see the
hm, not if you're short sighted like me :0) It's like a miniature metaphor for the miracle of life, the twentieth attempt the thread goes through and you're off. Before that it gets fuzzier and cut off and bent and huffed and puffed at and fuzzier. I think unfortunately humanity's thread is in danger of running out and our world will become just another button lost on the floor of the galaxy...

Like it, seems Neil Astley
Like it, 'sewing buttons' seems Neil Astley-ish a poem that would suit one of his anthologies, Being Alive, Staying Alive, Being Human...
