The Red Kite (bird of prey)
By socialeaf
- 2019 reads
In copper-coloured pools
blossoms ferment
Drowned ballerinas
kissed by the dancing feet
of water striders
The fickle southeasterly
whips up wispy skeletons
of last autumn’s fallen
high among the still-bare
branches where they would
once shimmer and thrive
A hovering red kite
hopefully waits for the
forest to inhale
Your hands
like unfurled ferns
shelter in your pockets
