Boreas 1, Helios Nil

Boreas has been desperate to blow off all our coats. Poor weather forecasts, causing many incorrect layering decisions, mean we’re either freezing or about to pass out from overheating. Boreas over-blustering, Helios not trying hard enough.
Stormy weather bringing autumn chills, and autumn ‘feels’. Thoughts of candles, blankets, twinkle-lights, thick woolly socks. Engrossed, reading unputdownable stories. And who’s joining ‘Strictly’?
There is always a point in summer when the anticipation of autumn begins, but never this early. Usually the colours change, particular scents in the air, night’s drawing in. Sounds of the geese departing. Not because rain-filled North wind is running amuck midsummer. Is bad-tempered Boreas summer-obsessed. Raging against midnight sun and high season green. Bored perhaps, with frosty white, royal blue starry nights. (Whoever could be?) Whatever is up, I wish Helios would come out guns blazing, win a few more coats-off-days.
How will I ever stick to salad and some protein when I’m freezing? This weather makes me long for slow-cooked lentil soup made with ham hough, dunked with buttery vintage cheddar bread. Bacon and bitter orange marmalade, à la Roald Dahl. The full stop of a cinnamon bun.
Recently, I bought two books I heard about through online influencers. They were totally putdownable. One of them became an editing exercise and must have been self-published. Must do more research. Must never buy self-published tosh again. Not at all the snuggly reads my yellow woolly socks and I were in the mood for. We were most put out and forced to watch yet more influencers on YouTube.
(The burning shame of being both gullible, and easily influenced).
Have the same issue with cleaning products. I believe their ‘no need to scrub’ lies. Falling for it every time.
Nevermind. Scrubbing burns off many calories, and quickly heats you up.

oh the weather - it's going
oh the weather - it's going to be 13 degrees here tomorrow - 13! It's June! Love the idea of a cinnamon bun being a full stop

Unputdownable
But, scientifically speaking, summer doesn't even start for another twelve days. You'll have no books left unread for the real autumn. Maybe you'll find some unputdownable cleaning products.

yes! Fictional
yes! Fictional weatherforecasts, we were to have blazing sunshine yesterday afternoon and it got darker and darker, then POURED. And you're right! It DOES feel Autumnal, with this wind. And not helping arguments with people about global warming when I have not gone a day yet without two layers. Though, as you say, Cleaning is a great way to stay warm and with the light being better there seems more of it than in Winter :0)
