In Twilight Years

Deeply moved by harmonies;
welcomed easy on the ear,
sonorous music latches
on to heart strings that
quiver emotions,
fluid sensitive tears
burst fourth, flowing
like pearls of rain
down my cheeks.
Wipe weepy eyes,
sip lemon tea;
read a good book...
adoring the hero.
Pen glides on adventures,
those somewhere dreams of
another time, some other place,
stirring imagination into motion.
Reminisce on honeyed visions,
submissive to past reflections;
for twilight years were planned
this way.
Just love this song, brings so many
memories back to me. It inspired me
to write this poem.

Go with the flow*....
Read with poetic flow, captured by the poetic flow, traveled with it in poetic flow, absorbed in the poetic flow, penned by a master of the flowing poetry.....

I was wondering which song it
I was wondering which song it was - very glad you put a link at the end. This is a wonderful meditative piece - how's the story coming along Jenny?

You show in your poem how
You show in your poem how beautiful twilight can be. In the woods sometimes there is a pink glow then, magical like a time to pass between worlds, like you do here, going through the worlds of music and wonderful writing

thats what good songs do
thats what music does, takes you places and ignites inner longings and pluks your emotions taking you through time and place in unexpected ways great work

And it would last 'til the end of time...
I get this Jenny.
Roberta Flack's passing a few days ago brought heaviness to my heart as another morsel of reality morphed into mere nostalgia.

Roberta Flack
That's a wonderful song.
Her other huge hit 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face', written by Salford's Ewan MacColl, is a very moving piece to read as poetry even without the music and Roberta's beautiful voice.
