Snow

So we are being hit by a severe blizzard,
No need to panic,
Only a passing stream of snow flakes,
Will you need to wear your Wellington boots
and tog up like an Eskimo from The South Pole?
No, but if you want to?
One would think that we are in the middle
of Russia with 2 feet of snow,
snow ploughs,
tyre grips and
snow scrappers.
The news blitzing us - 24/7,
No buses will be running today,
No Circle line,
300 schools have been closed
but the kids are having a field day,
Building snow men as tall as post boxes,
throwing snow balls in the park,
with dogs barking, fathers dodging the sailing snow missiles, smiling
but
Avoid the motorway,
There has been a pile up on the A12,
Drive like a tortoise,
Gatwick, Heathrow and The London City Airport
are closed until further notice,
Angry passengers demanding to be put on
the first available flight,
if there are any left or
if humans had wings,
Imagine the congestion in the air.
Take the first available vehicle,
The one with the special tyre grips, especially
imported from Russia for you,
but don't come into work with your car,
you know the snow is coming down,
thick and fast,
but if you want to flex your muscles
by pushing your car all the way to
Shepherds Bush with the AA trailing you,
By all means,
If you are up for the challenge,
Struggle into your moon boots and
walk the extra mile but don't say I did not
advise you,
You may slip,
You say you have a bicycle,
Your wheels may spin,
and you could go crashing into
space,
Don't say that I did not warn you,
People have to cycle,
to get into work,
to shop,
to take their kids on a fairy tale ride
around Trafalgar Square -
You say,
Let nature tell you in a thousand words,
Now the snow is coming down again,
much faster,
It whirls and settles on everything,
Snow flakes on a Bull dog's nose,
He shakes his tail, enjoying the little
tickle,
Nature in flight,
So heavenly,
Go inside and
Watch the way how the snow drifts down,
so featherlike,
so magical,
until the wind changes
direction and then you may see a rainbow,
if you are lucky.
