I like this poem, it's comfortable to read. Makes me think of two people who understand each other and are relaxed enough to let each other do their own thing, yet come together when the time is right.
I know exactly what your saying, especially in that last line. As I get older it becomes obvious that life is repeated over and over by generations of people coming up behind me, walking in my shadow.
Funnily enough my partner's going night fishing with his son this weekend, so I expect he will be sitting thinking of me and I of him. Nice thoughtful poem.
